Journal-First Meal Logging, Hong Kong Dish Coverage v2 & Milk Type Chooser

Promoted manual meal logging alongside AI photo analysis, refreshed the warm journal interface, expanded nutrition profiles for common Hong Kong dishes and salads, and added a milk type chooser for photo estimates.

New Features

  • Journal-first manual entry & meal notes: log meals directly from Today, History or the bottom bar without needing a photo, and attach optional plain-text meal notes (up to 500 characters).
  • Hong Kong dish coverage v2: added recipe templates and calorie/macro range profiles for five everyday Hong Kong dish families—rice plates, cha chaan teng noodles (with cart noodle follow-up prompts), dim sum, cha chaan teng breakfast sets and stir-fried rice noodles.
  • Salad range profiles & generic milk chooser: added conservative nutrition ranges for protein-and-vegetable salads and creamy salads, plus a five-option milk chooser (Whole milk, Low-fat milk, Oat milk, Soy milk, Other) when a photo identifies generic milk.

User-Facing Improvements

  • Refreshed the mobile and desktop journal interface with a calmer warm palette, a compact sync status pill, a floating editor save tray, and a clearer “No records yet” state when zero meals are logged for the day.
  • Prevented plant-based milk items (oat milk, soy milk, almond milk) from being automatically mapped to whole dairy milk.

Important Fixes

  • Fixed date, time and meal-type inputs overflowing narrow phone screens (360px–375px viewports) inside the meal editor.

Important Notes

  • Customizable multi-item set meals where individual side dishes are not specified remain flagged as uncalculated gaps rather than guessing a single calorie total.

Offline-Capable Journal Sync, Today & History Views & Demo Mode

Consolidated the Today and History meal journal, account-isolated offline editing with automatic cloud synchronization, and the open Local Demo Mode experience.

New Features

  • Today & History meal journal: organize saved meals by Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snack with daily calorie and macro range summaries, and revisit or edit earlier dates in History.
  • Offline viewing & editing: view downloaded records and add, edit or delete meals while offline; pending changes synchronize automatically when the app is open and a connection returns.
  • Local Demo Mode: preview the photo input, nutrition range breakdown and portion editing workflow using clearly labelled sample results without requiring a trial account.

User-Facing Improvements

  • Added installable PWA support with home-screen icons and an offline app shell that preserves unsaved local drafts across updates.

Important Notes

  • Meal photos are processed transiently in memory during live analysis and are never stored in cloud database records or cloud storage buckets.

AI Meal Photo Analysis & Deterministic Nutrition Ranges

Initial live validation milestone introducing signed-in AI meal photo recognition, deterministic calorie and macro ranges, and instant client-side portion adjustments.

New Features

  • AI-assisted food recognition (Signed-in Trial): capture or upload a meal photo (JPEG, PNG, WebP or HEIC/HEIF) to receive suggested food items, estimated portion ranges and visual uncertainty notes.
  • Deterministic calorie & macro ranges: calculate calorie, protein, carbohydrate and fat ranges from portion and nutrient-density bounds rather than asking the AI model to guess raw calorie numbers.
  • Instant portion & item editing: edit food names, quantities, units (g, ml, piece) or manual calorie overrides with immediate recalculation in your browser—no second AI call required.

Important Notes

  • Nutrition estimates are for general everyday reference and are not medical advice.
