Before reporting a problem
If something fails, include enough context to reproduce the issue without sharing private documents.
- SwiftLocal version and Windows version.
- The workspace or task you were using, such as PDF, OCR, Office, image or media.
- The exact error message or visible failure.
- Whether the input file opens normally in another application.
- A minimal non-sensitive sample file when one is needed to reproduce the problem.
PDF and Open with
SwiftLocal can appear in Windows “Open with” for PDF files without forcing itself to become your default PDF reader. If it is missing from Open with, confirm that SwiftLocal is installed normally and then try the PDF again.
OCR
Traditional Chinese and English OCR uses chi_tra + eng by default. OCR quality still depends on scan quality, resolution, orientation, fonts and image noise.
Office conversions
Word, Excel and PowerPoint to PDF use LibreOffice. PDF to Word is best-effort because a PDF is not the original editable document. PDF to XLSX, PPTX and ODT remain experimental and should be checked before formal use.
Media and public URLs
Local audio and video conversion uses bundled media tools. Public-media URL availability depends on the source website, region, content type and upstream tool support. Only download content you are authorized or legally permitted to retain.
Files, outputs and large jobs
Make sure the output folder is writable and has enough free space. Large OCR, Office and video jobs may need more time, memory and temporary disk space.
Supported platforms
Windows x64 is the officially supported platform for the current release. macOS remains experimental and Linux is not officially supported.
